Spine privacy policy
Last updated October 12, 2026
This policy explains how Spine, the app for iOS and Android published by Renevell LLC (“Renevell”, “we”), handles your information. In short: Spine keeps what you record on your phone. It has no account, no advertising and no analytics, and nothing you record in it is sent to Renevell.
What Spine stores, and where
Everything you enter or that Spine gathers for you, including your timeline, dated items, people, check-ins, goals, cards, documents and emergency information, is stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. Renevell does not operate a server for Spine and never receives this information.
Information Spine reads from your phone
Spine can read from the sources below to fill in your timeline. Each is optional, is used only after you grant permission, and can be turned off at any time in your phone’s settings. What Spine reads stays on the phone.
- Health: steps, sleep and workouts from Apple Health or Health Connect, read only. Spine never writes to them, and health information is not used for advertising or shared with anyone.
- Calendar: the day’s events.
- Photos (iPhone only): the day’s photos, shown on your timeline.
- Contacts: names and details you choose to add to People or to your emergency card.
- Location: where you were while using the app, for your timeline. Spine names places only from what is already on your phone: the location written on a calendar event happening at the time, or a name you give the place. It never looks your location up online. The location of each visit is kept on your phone so you can name it, and is never sent anywhere.
- Camera: photographs of the cards and documents you add to the Vault. Text on a card is read on the phone. On iPhone, the text on a card is read on the phone using Apple’s built-in text recognition. Spine on Android does not read cards; you type the details in.
- Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint: to lock the Vault. Spine receives only a yes or no from your phone and never your biometric data.
- Notifications: reminders that Spine schedules on the phone itself.
Purchases
The 14-day trial and the $4.99 unlock are handled by the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy, and Renevell does not receive your payment details. The store tells Spine on your phone whether the unlock has been bought, so that it can be restored on a new phone.
Backups
Spine can create a backup file, which you choose where to save, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive or your computer. The file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. It never passes through Renevell.
Your phone’s own services
Features provided by your phone, such as the health store, location services, biometrics and the app store, operate under Apple’s or Google’s terms and privacy policies.
When you write to us
If you email support@renevell.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include, and we use it only to help you. We do not add correspondents to marketing lists. Please do not send screenshots of your cards, documents or health information.
Sharing
We do not sell, share or receive the information you keep in Spine. We share email correspondence only with the providers that host our email, or where the law requires it.
Deleting your information
Deleting Spine from your phone removes everything it stores. Backup files you saved elsewhere remain until you delete them. To ask about any correspondence we hold, or to have it deleted, write to support@renevell.com.
Children
Spine is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Any change to how Spine handles information will also be described in the app’s release notes.
